The Mummy was a magician in King Tut's time. He knew all the secrets of evil and conspired against the Pharaoh's dynasty. Because of this, King Tut had him put to death.
Fast forward to modern times, he was dug up and put in a New York museum for display. When chemist Harley Hudson was called to the museum to authenticate the Mummy, the creature awoke, leaving several dead staff members with a marking of a beetle on their forehead. Firefly defeated him and buried him in the local cemetery.
Soon after, a rash of grave robberies begin to happen. The Mummy had returned and he had gathered a legion of "living" corpses by injecting them with human blood. Unfortunately, they all wanted to go "home." One by one, Firefly visited the families of the recently deceased to prevent them from being murdered. He once again defeated the Mummy, and this time, buried him in cement and threw it in the river.
Months later, when a construction crew was working on the city's bridge, they accidentally released the Mummy buried in the river's sand dredge. He stole the Crown of Egypt from the museum and kidnapped Joan Burton (Firefly's girlfriend) so she could be his Queen in Egypt.
Once in Egypt, his fellow cultists wanted the Mummy to sacrifice Joan at the alter, but the Mummy refused proclaiming his love for her. Frustrated with his follower's wishes, he killed them instead.
Meanwhile, Firefly flew to Egypt in his Fireflyer to rescue Joan. There, he battled his foe who then fell in a bottomless pit never to be seen again.
