Synopsis for "The Fox Goes To a Night Club"
Paul Patton, The Daily Globe staff photographer, and reporter Ruth Ransom interview a dancing star at a club. Later that night, the dancer invites Paul back to the club, but when he arrives, shots are fired and the dancer is dead. Paul speaks to the dead girl's friend, who then leaves the club after their conversation. As Paul is calling in his story, a woman's scream is heard. It seems someone has stolen her pearls. Paul can't believe he now has two scoops to report. When the police finally arrive, they find the gun and listen to the other woman's theft. When Paul goes home, a package is there, and in it is the missing pearls! Suddenly, two thugs enter by the window and grab the pearls. Paul becomes the Fox and breaks into the dead dancer's apartment. He reads her diary and snaps some photos of a few pages. He then breaks into the woman's apartment whose pearls were stolen. There, he confronts the woman about the phony heist, explaining she wanted to collect the insurance money. From behind a curtain, a man steps out with a gun. While still at gun point, the Fox has already solved the complicated mystery and rehashes it to the thug. It seems, the man took the pearls and gave them to the dead dancer. However, he feel in love with her roommate, and when he couldn't get the pearls back to give to her instead, he had the dancer killed. Realizing her life might be in danger, the dancer mailed the pearls to Paul, who she met, and trusted, during the earlier interview. (This is not "really" possible, since the dancer was killed first, minutes before the robbery. Anyway,...). The woman hears all this too, and is rather shocked. She pulls out a gun, and shoots the man. The Fox takes a photo ("Whata picture!") of the killing and calls the paper.
